Biografie

Marianne Evelyn Gabriel Faithfull war eine englische Rocksängerin und Schauspielerin. Sie erlangte in den 1960er-Jahren mit ihrer Hitsingle „As Tears Go By“ große Bekanntheit und wurde zu einer der führenden Künstlerinnen der British Invasion in den USA. Ihr Debütalbum „Marianne Faithfull“ (1965), das zeitgleich mit ihrem Album „Come My Way“ erschien, war ein kommerzieller Erfolg, dem weitere Alben bei Decca Records folgten. Von 1966 bis 1970 führte sie eine vielbeachtete Beziehung mit Mick Jagger. Ihre Popularität steigerte sich zusätzlich durch Filmrollen, beispielsweise in „I’ll Never Forget What’s’isname“ (1967), „The Girl on a Motorcycle“ (1968) und „Hamlet“ (1969).
